Rebecca D. Gilliland
Rebecca, a Pensacola native, began her legal career in Montgomery, Alabama. While attending law school at Faulkner University’s Jones School of Law in Montgomery, she was an articles editor on the law review and participated in several moot court competitions, earning multiple advocacy and briefing awards and winning a national championship. Rebecca was also on the Dean’s list every semester, received six best paper awards in various classes, and clerked at both the Alabama Attorney General’s office in the appellate division and at the Alabama Supreme Court. After graduating fourth in her class, Rebecca worked on complex litigation involving attorney general claims for various states and multi-district litigation at a firm in Montgomery. Several years later, Rebecca and her family were given the opportunity to move home to Pensacola and join a local firm, which they gladly accepted.
Due to the complex litigation Rebecca handled early in her career, she chose to pursue a postlaw school degree in insurance law, which she completed with honors from the University of Connecticut School of Law in May of 2018. Through that course of study, Rebecca developed a love for the intricacies of insurance law that led her to seek a position that would let her more effectively utilize that education and her previous litigation experience, finding her way to Galloway.
Prior to law school, Rebecca enlisted in the United States Marine Corps where she served honorably for five years, training as a celestial navigator. She credits that experience with teaching her to think quickly and be efficient, both skills that served her well in law school and in practice. Rebecca also credits the Marines with teaching her adaptability. She quite literally went from being a sorority member at Florida State, to a Marine recruit in Parris Island within a span of three months. Because of her experience, Rebecca thrives in a busy law practice covering a wide array of practice areas.
In her time away from the office, Rebecca is an accomplished violinist and violist and recently played with the New England Symphonic Ensemble in Carnegie Hall. She and her husband live in Pace, Florida with their kids.
