Stephen B. Shell

Stephen B. Shell is a partner with Carver Darden, practicing in the firm’s Pensacola office. He received his Bachelors degree with honors in 1982 from Vanderbilt University, and received his Juris Doctor from the University of Florida College of Law in 1984.
 
Mr. Shell is Board Certified by the Florida Bar in the specialty of real estate law, AV rated by Martindale Hubbell, and practices primarily in the areas of real estate transactions and development, and business and commercial law. Steve regularly counsels and represents corporate and business clients in all types of business and real estate matters. In the real estate field, he has represented lenders, developers, builders, buyers, sellers and property owners in an array of matters including subdivision and commercial development, condominium development, residential and commercial closings, commercial and residential leases, eminent domain, and various other real property matters.
 
Mr. Shell is an agent for Attorneys Title Insurance Fund, Inc., Old Republic National Title Insurance Company, First American Title Insurance Company, Chicago Title Insurance Company, and Westcor Title Insurance Company.
 
Mr. Shell is a member of the Escambia-Santa Rosa Bar Association and was an attorney with Shell, Fleming, Davis & Menge from 1984 until the firm closed its practice on December 31, 2019. He is a past board member and officer of the Escambia/Santa Rosa Bar Association, and has served on various committees of the local association.
 
Mr. Shell is certified by the Florida Bar as a Board Certified Real Estate Lawyer.  He is one of only a few attorneys in Pensacola who is board certified in the specialty of real estate law. According to The Florida Bar, board certification “is the highest level of evaluation by The Florida Bar of competency and experience within an area of law, and professionalism and ethics in practice,” and it recognizes attorneys’ special knowledge, skills and proficiency in various areas of law and professionalism and ethics in practice.”  Florida Bar board certified lawyers are the only Florida attorneys who may use the terms “specialist” and “expert,” or the letters “B.C.S.” for Board Certified Specialist when referring to their legal credentials.
