Biomechanics of Injury Causation This presentation covers food-borne illnesses due to biological, chemical or physical hazards. We will provide a brief overview of the most common types of food-borne illness claims, and specific pre and post litigation handling techniques, including when an expert can assist in the defense of the claim. The overview will include prevention, origination, initial communication with the alleged victim and the insured, as well as securing evidence, and determining the need for third party expertise such as laboratories or consulting experts. Best Practices; How to Select and Utilize Experts This course will review the when and why you should use a consultant, what information you should supply, the results you can expect, and the kinds of cases consultants frequently handle. In particular, the program focuses on helping attorneys/adjusters select a qualified consultant and how to communicate effectively with that consultant to obtain the maximum benefit. The Role of Biomechanics Analysis in Serious Accident Cases The course is designed to help the participant understand the field of injury biomechanics and how a biomechanical engineer may be critical in identifying the sequence of events, in mitigation/elimination of injuries, or even in occupant ejections during accidental events. By the end of this course, participants should have a general understanding of the process by which a biomechanical engineer evaluates injury potential, injury patterns, mitigation and/or elimination of injuries, and mechanisms following a reported event.
